Southern Highlands Food and Wine Festival

Each year the Southern Highlands Food and Wine Festival is held around the first weekend in October for the long weekend.  This also conveniently coincides with the annual Tulip Time Festival that is held in Corbett Gardens in Bowral.  The festival has been increasing in size and popularity over the years and is now held on Bowral’s historic Bradman Oval.

One Day in Bordeaux

Bordeaux is an interesting port city located on a sweeping crescent-shaped bend of the River Garonne in South-West France.  Known as the Port of the Moon because of its shape, this UNESCO world heritage site has a rich history.  For more than 2000 years the city has operated its port, facilitating the exchange of human values and commerce as the capital city of the famous wine region.  One day in Bordeaux was not enough time!

48 Hours in Melbourne

Melbourne is such an interesting city!  It is the perfect place for a quick city break, with a long list of things that you can choose from to entertain you while you are there.  Situated on the Yarra River, the capital city is a harmonious blend of heritage and modernity.  Bars, plazas, restaurants, cafes, theatres, museums, galleries, 19th century grand old shopping arcades, modern skyscraper buildings, and trams!

Kawau Island New Zealand – A Short Stay

A short 8km boat ride across Kawau Bay from Sandspit, Warkworth will transport you to the beautiful Kawau Island New Zealand.  There are ferries and water taxis that leave from Sandspit daily. Or take your own boat out for a spin.  The island has three harbours: Bon Accord Harbour, North Cove, and South Cove.  Most residents rely on direct waterfront access and have private wharves for entrance to their homes.  Other residents choose to live on their boats anchored in one of the harbours.

St Kilda, Melbourne – A Short Stay

I visited St Kilda with my husband earlier this year for a short 3 day stay.  The beachside suburb boasts an eclectic collection of entertainment, relaxation, and dining choices.  Conveniently located just a short tram ride from the CBD in Melbourne, coming via the 96 from Bourke St.  (Nothing says “you are in Melbourne” better than tapping on with your Myki card for a ride on the tram network.)
