Silo Art in Grenfell

We took a day trip from the Southern Highlands out to see the Silo Art in Grenfell.  These impressive silos were painted by Melbourne street artist Heesco in 2019.  It was an ambitious 7-ish hours of round-trip driving time, stopping in at a few country towns along the way to see what we could see.

Silo Art in Murrumburrah

The silo art in Murrumburrah was completed in 2021 by the popular street artist Heesco.  As the eastern end of the old flour mill building received the mural facelift, it is best photographed in the morning when the sun illuminates the colours of the mural.

Silo Art in Gunnedah

When the pace of city life gets too much, one of the best solutions is to pack your bag and head out to a country town.  Plenty of fresh air, wide open spaces, friendly people, and the unique colours of the Australian countryside await, like a soothing balm to be applied to the soul.  Many country towns have their own “claim to fame” that sets them apart from other destinations.  One example of this is the silo art in Gunnedah.

Silo Art in Wilton

Murals are becoming increasingly popular in Australia, throughout both cities and outback country towns.  Public outdoor artworks on water towers and silos adorn country roads, as well as street art on building walls in towns and cities, providing enjoyment for locals and tourists alike.  Travelling to the country towns to enjoy the murals provides a much needed boost to the local economy.  It is definitely something you should consider adding to your next travel plan when in Australia.
