Getting from Brisbane Airport to the city is easy on the Brisbane AirTrain! Both the domestic and international terminals have their own stop on the AirTrain line. The journey takes about 20 minutes from the domestic terminal into the city centre. The train also continues on to the Gold Coast.
On my last, very short, trip to Brisbane, I was looking for the best way to get from the airport to my hostel in the city. I was trying to minimise costs on this trip. Since the AirTrain worked out to be cheaper than the estimated taxi fare, I opted to give it a try.
Access to the Brisbane AirTrain station is easy, with lifts and escalators to accommodate the transfer of luggage from the airport to the train. The train carriages are all one level with a lot of open space areas away from the doors for people with luggage. Large windows provide passengers with a view and the carriages have toilets on board.
If you are staying around Brisbane for a while and plan on using public transport, you could consider purchasing a Go Card at the airport. You can use this for your AirTrain fare, and top up the card during your visit to continue to use the card to travel around. The Go Card requires a card deposit in addition to the fare spend.
If you are only up for a short stay, and not planning to use public transport very much, it may be a better option for you to just purchase your Brisbane AirTrain tickets online and receive the online discount if you buy them in advance.

My first time using the AirTrain was refreshingly straight forward. There are plenty of signs in the airport directing you to the AirTrain station. I would recommend using the AirTrain service on your next visit to Brisbane.

Excellent guide to the service. The street art adds that bit extra to the trip too.
