Silo Art in Grenfell

We took a day trip from the Southern Highlands out to see the Silo Art in Grenfell.  These impressive silos were painted by Melbourne street artist Heesco in 2019.  It was an ambitious 7-ish hours of round-trip driving time, stopping in at a few country towns along the way to see what we could see.

Silo Art in Murrumburrah

The silo art in Murrumburrah was completed in 2021 by the popular street artist Heesco.  As the eastern end of the old flour mill building received the mural facelift, it is best photographed in the morning when the sun illuminates the colours of the mural.

Southern Highlands Food and Wine Festival 2022

What a great time we had at the Southern Highlands Food and Wine Festival 2022!  The rain managed to hold off for a while, the event organisers managed to find enough straw to lay on the soggy ground so that we could walk around without looking like mud wrestling contestants, and we were treated to some very enjoyable musical entertainment.  Plus, did I mention there was Food AND Wine??

Luna Park Sydney

I was recently invited to spend some time at Luna Park Sydney with a friend and her family.  I hadn’t been to Luna Park since I was a kid, so I was keen to go and check out the fun with them all.  A merry band of kids, teens and adults, we set off from different locations to meet up at the iconic waterfront theme park.

Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk

Taking a stroll over the Sydney Harbour Bridge is an excellent activity for a beautiful sunny day.  Walking across the bridge itself will cost you nothing, and provide you with some lovely photo opportunities of the harbour and the surrounding city along the way.

Walking from Milsons Point to Circular Quay takes a little over half an hour, depending on how many times you stop to take photos, and the distance is about 2.5 km.  This is the best direction to walk the bridge, providing views of the city as you walk towards it.  Here’s a photo walk through to encourage you to give it a try next time you are in the area.

Vivid Sydney – don’t miss it!

Every year, for about three weeks at the start of our winter (late May to early June), Sydney turns into the “City of Lights” as a festival of light, music and ideas  – known as “Vivid Sydney”  – takes place.

Buildings and walkways around the city are illuminated with various light sculptures, installations and image projections, as well as interactive stations that passers-by can engage with.
